About the clinic

JUNE SURGERY CLINIC (유월외과의원) — Your comfort is our standard

A surgery clinic on the 3rd floor of Buil Tower, 507 Seolleung-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (Yeoksam-dong), a 1-minute walk from Exit 7 of Seolleung Station (Line 2 and Suin-Bundang Line). According to the director’s blog, the clinic starts seeing patients at this address on Monday, 2 November 2026. Board-certified surgeon Dr. Sung-il Cho treats accessory breast tissue and gynecomastia, removes benign skin and subcutaneous lumps, checks and removes breast implants (including revision surgery) and performs breast examinations.

[Medical team]
· Dr. Sung-il Cho, Director — board-certified general surgeon. Graduated from Korea University College of Medicine and its graduate school (Master of Medicine), then worked as a general surgery specialist at Korea University Medical Center and as a clinical instructor at Korea University Anam Hospital. He is director of general affairs of the Korean Medical Practitioners Association, and formerly served as director of general affairs of the Korean Association of Surgical Practitioners and as a member of the Korean Medical Association’s medical advertising review committee (18th term). He has lectured on accessory breast surgery and gynecomastia at the congresses of the Korean Association of Surgical Practitioners.
· Anaesthesia is given by a dedicated anaesthesiologist, who stays in the operating room from induction until the patient wakes up and leaves, monitoring oxygen saturation, exhaled carbon dioxide, ECG and blood pressure in real time.

[How the clinic works]
· There is no consultation coordinator: every consultation is done by the director himself. The surgeon performs the ultrasound personally and operates on the basis of that diagnosis.
· Visits are by appointment, with only one patient booked per time slot. Once a booking is confirmed, a text message gives the date and time, the expected duration, what can be done that day (consultation only or surgery as well) and how to prepare (meals, medication).
· After diagnosis the clinic also asks about plans for childbirth, breastfeeding or a wedding, to decide together whether now is the right time for surgery.

[Accessory breast]
Congenital breast tissue left in the armpit, which can change in size or become painful with hormonal changes such as the menstrual cycle, pregnancy and childbirth. Because glandular tissue is hard to remove with liposuction alone, the surrounding fat is suctioned and the glandular tissue is then removed under direct vision. According to the clinic, the incision is 1.5 cm along an armpit crease; the operation takes about an hour under general anaesthesia with an anaesthesiologist present, and you go home the same day after observation in the recovery room.

[Gynecomastia]
A condition caused by growth of glandular breast tissue, which remains even after weight loss. After confirming the gland on ultrasound, the clinic performs a subcutaneous mastectomy that combines liposuction of the whole chest with removal of the gland through an incision at the lower edge of the areola. According to the clinic, surgery takes around one hour; careful haemostasis means no drain is used, and you go home the same afternoon. A compression garment is advised for at least two weeks, and upper-body strength training is restricted for four weeks.

[Benign skin and subcutaneous lumps]
Lumps under the skin such as epidermal (sebaceous) cysts and lipomas are removed under local anaesthesia. For epidermal cysts the pin-hole method — taking out the cyst sac through a small hole — is used where possible; lipomas and similar lumps are removed through a minimal incision along the skin creases. According to the clinic, removal takes about 30 minutes, and if the schedule is arranged when booking, surgery can be done on the day of the visit. Dissolvable stitches are used first, and every piece of removed tissue is sent for histopathology, with results given 1–2 weeks later.

[Breast implant check, removal and revision; breast exams]
Ultrasound is used first to assess the implant shell and the capsule’s thickness, calcification and any fluid, and the extent of surgery is planned from that. Abnormal parts of the capsule are removed, while thin normal tissue attached to the ribs and pectoral muscle is preserved within a safe range. You go home on the day of surgery after recovery, and thanks to a waterproof dressing a light shower is possible after about 48 hours. Breast exams combine ultrasound performed by the surgeon with AI-assisted reading.

[Recovery and records]
According to the director’s blog, the clinic has a close-observation area directly linked to the operating room and a separate recovery space for resting before discharge. A recovery guide for each operation is given in print and via KakaoTalk, along with a summary of the operation record and the biopsy results. For urgent problems after surgery outside opening hours, the clinic runs a hotline that reaches the director directly.

[Costs and visiting]
Treatment covered by Korea’s National Health Insurance is charged at the set fee schedule, and non-covered items and expected costs are explained separately before treatment. Insurance coverage can differ depending on the purpose of the exam, symptoms and the reason for surgery; there are no discounts for acquaintances and no conditional discounts. Prices are not published online and are given at consultation. Hours are Mon–Fri 08:00–17:00 (break 13:00–14:00); the official website lists weekday hours only. Book or ask by phone at +82-2-6191-0013 (02-6191-0013 within Korea) or via the KakaoTalk channel @유월외과.

Clinic Strengths

  • Consultation, ultrasound and surgery by the director himself

There is no consultation coordinator — the director handles every consultation. The board-certified surgeon performs the ultrasound himself and takes the case from that diagnosis through surgery and follow-up.

  • A dedicated anaesthesiologist

Anaesthesia is given by an anaesthesiologist who stays in the operating room from induction until you wake up and leave, monitoring oxygen saturation, exhaled CO2, ECG and blood pressure in real time.

  • Small incisions, no drains

According to the clinic, the accessory-breast incision is 1.5 cm along an armpit crease regardless of tissue size. To keep scarring down, bleeding is controlled carefully instead of placing a drain.

  • Every removed tissue goes to pathology

Whatever its size or type, all removed tissue is sent for histopathology. Results come in 1–2 weeks and are given to you by phone or message — no extra visit just to hear them — together with a summary of the operation record.

  • One patient per time slot

Only one patient is booked per time slot so visits never overlap. The confirmation text tells you the expected duration, what can be done that day (consultation only or surgery too) and how to prepare (meals, medication).
